Fall Again

Cherrie | October 29, 2009

It was sometime during that 10 month period that we began to notice what our friends had already seen. We had inadvertently become a couple, almost an item. And if we ran with the right crowds, we would have discovered how unacceptable our union/friendship/item-ness. Fortunately, these were losers who neither of us would have given the time of day.

Fellowship of the Rings

Do you ever look across the room at the person you share your bed, your home, your intimate moments and just wish you could will it all away? That was the subject addressed at our weekly ladies coffee-clash.   Even I had to admit that as much as I love my husband, there are days when I [...]

Do As I Do

Cherrie | October 27, 2009

My mother taught me that because I have daughters that I have exercise special viligence where children were concerned. When my children were younger, we impressed on them the idea of waiting for marriage before sex. What would they have done if they’d seen me with ever Tom,Dick and Harry everynight? The word of the day is don’t listen to anything that I say. Instead please do what I do.

White folks in the family? Say it ain't so!

Cherrie | October 26, 2009

Black folks need a wakeup call. And white folks need to stop the drama and decide when they think it’s time to play the race card? Even the KKK rationalized that POTUS was half-white because they can’t wrap their pea-brains around the idea of a black man embracing his heritage and leading the most powerful nation ever formed. But this isn’t about POTUS (who fortunately can trace his roots). This is the story of not just Michelle Robinson Obama, but the story of every black woman born in America. We have always known about our white ancestors, often not by name but they have been there. They ARE there. The only reason this is on the front burner now is that some people want us to be reminded, humiliated at the idea that black folks were somehow inferior.

Not Excited Anymore

CherrieJW | October 23, 2009

In expectation of a journalism assignment, I’ve been researching African Americans, the Death Penalty, and statistics on black on black crime, white on black and white on white crime. I’ve noticed the same trend. As if no one knows, African Americans seem to get the short end of the stick.   Harsh sentences when it’s black [...]

In the Blogesphere, No one can hear you scream

CherrieJW | October 22, 2009

I found out the hard way that when people I meet over internet or people allowed to live their lives in a bubble where they enhance their calm, by peeking into the lives of others, that I am not really meeting someone. I have made come fantastic connections online, found lost family members and some [...]

Libel to Slander

CherrieJW | October 21, 2009

My friend just told me of an incident that she’s having with CVS pharmacy.  I suppose she will want our help with exposing the chain for the lying, hypocrite bigots that is more often their attitude than not. It started like this: Denise goes to the pharmacy and drops off her scripts. Nothing out of [...]

To Be A Muslim

CherrieJW | October 20, 2009

Let me state this before we go any further let telll you that I majored in English and I homeschooled 5 children.   Hatemail will be graded for form and context. Here we go. The world Muslim is on who does the will of God. It’s like riding the wave rather than against the current.  Everything [...]

Ramblings and Musings of the Day

Cherrie | October 19, 2009

I was not going to write again today, but frustration and stupidity and just blatant ignorance got the better of me and so I had to tell on my co-workers who are just not well women. Why is it that when hormonally-challenged creatures are placed in settings with each other if there is something close [...]
